CQC Report about UHNM
Are you working in a Safe environment?
The CQC Care Quality Commission have released a report to the findings of their visit in April 2015.
• The full report is available via the Intranet.
Unison have looked at the report and highlighted various concerns which need to be addressed by all members including our health & safety officers.
• Chief Exec Mark Hackett has released a statement to all UHNM staff outlining some parts of the report, but not in depth.
As a union, “we” need to active in making sure we highlight any further concerns, or any additional concerns not addressed in the report.
• Datix’s must be completed.
• Highlighted to the appropriate team leader/supervisor/manager (preferably via a written note or email) this way your concern is recorded and dated.
• Any requests for training etc. which has been denied or overdue – also must be highlighted in writing. (logged)
• Unsafe staffing levels, must be highlighted
• Unsafe practices where there is not enough qualified staff
• Health & Safety guidelines, must be adhered to especially around the storage of medicines in fridges.
• The correct amount of resuscitation trolleys.
• Requirement notices: Regulation 9HSCA, regulation 12 HSCA, Regulation 17 HSCA
• Further Child Protection training must be given to level 2 and above (making sure children are protected from the risk of harm)
• Patient flow is looked at via the ED
• Relaying on too many Agency/locum staff
Also, to work on the ratings highlighted “Safe Standards” at Royal Stoke and County

UHNM UNISON will be holding a second day of Strike action on
Monday 24th November, 2014 - 7am until 11am
Why? The government didn't listen to our last strike day action about a 1% Pay offer. So now is the time to ask your Unison colleagues at work to come out and join us. The more of us on the picket line, the more our voice will be heard.
